NORTHPORT, N.Y., Sep. 16, 2015:
Island Christian Church, a Long Island Evangelical church, held its annual blood drive on Tuesday, August 18th at its Northport Campus. The event ran from 2:00 – 8:00 PM and resulted in over 30 units of blood donated. Island Christian Church has been holding blood drives and donating to the New York Blood Center for several years. The summer months tend to be a slow time for the New York Blood Center, with blood supply critically low. The church was able to make donations that have the potential of saving almost 100 lives. All it takes to donate and save three lives is ten minutes and one pint of blood.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. As followers of Christ, we are told to love our neighbors, so what better way to do this than to help save the lives of millions around the world through the shedding of our blood? We believe that it is our duty to inform everyone of the importance of blood donation. Island Christian Church was honored to host yet another blood drive, and looks forward to an even larger turnout next year!
The community at Island Christian Church is pursuing the kind of church life set forth in Scripture. The foundations of this church are Spirit-led worship, relevant teaching, authentic relationships, persistent prayer and compassionate provision for the needy. We invite our neighbors to join us as we strive to demonstrate a compelling faith that will touch the lives of individuals within our larger communities.
