Paul writes to Timothy–
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:1-4)
We will inaugurate a new president this Friday. It seems our country has never been so divided. As Jesus followers, it is our privilege and duty to intercede in prayer– especially at this crucial time. So church– would you pray for our new president, for his administration, for our nation?
Our trust is never in a man or woman, but this Scripture enjoins priority prayer for them because their lives and decisions affect so many people for good or evil.
