EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y., Sept. 7, 2015. Feeling overwhelmed? Scattered perhaps? Life is so much busier and less satisfying than I thought it would be. Jesus, speaking into the life of Martha, a well-meaning but overwhelmed follower, said this, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but only a few things are necessary, really only one…” Luke 10:41
According to Reverend Mike O’Connor, senior pastor of Island Christian Church, “Let these words of Jesus both liberate and challenge you. What were the things Jesus was speaking about?”
This September at all of Island Christian Church’s locations (Northport, Holbrook and Port Jefferson), services will direct you toward those “few necessary things” that bring enduring purpose and satisfaction to life. September is one of the times of the year where people get back to their routines after the summer lull. ICC encourages people to get off the same ‘ol, same ‘ol track and consider a new approach to life… one that is bigger than their own lives! Jesus said, “I have come so that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
This is accomplished through relevant, Bible-centered preaching, vibrant worship and also genuine community, all of which you will find at Island Christian Church. We love our youth and we are your eager partners in equipping the coming generation to have lives of impact and purpose.
Island Christian Church is a place where people of all backgrounds come together to grow in our faith, connect with God and one another, and reach out in love to our fellow Long Islanders. In addition to Sunday mornings, adult Bible and Equipping classes, small fellowship groups and great kids’ programs are offered during the week.
Indeed, the community at Island Christian Church is pursuing the kind of church life set forth in Scripture. The foundations of this church are Spirit-led worship, relevant teaching, authentic relationships, unceasing prayer and compassionate provision for the needy. We hope you will join us as we strive to demonstrate a compelling faith that will touch the lives of individuals within our larger communities.
