But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
This has been a trying season. Over the last five months, everyone’s world has gotten turned upside down. We all understood why we needed to shut down our entire lives. It was for the good of the country. We all thought it would be for just a few weeks and then it would be over, and everything would go back to normal.
But as the weeks have turned into months, we see no end in sight. I am sure you are as frustrated as I am as the rules our government officials make, keep changing and often seem to make no sense or have any consistency. This frustration has turned to anger. We know that anger isn’t good for us. It causes all kinds of physical symptoms including high blood pressure and depression.
A number of people have told me that as they deal with the general public in their jobs, customers have gone from thankful and understanding to cranky and angry.
These verses in Galatians are something that we as Christians should meditate on every day. We often just stop at love, joy and peace, but each fruit has such meaning.
Today, let’s just think about kindness.
Take the time to be kind to all the people in your life today.
Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
