In four performances over the first two weekends of December 2013, audiences were invited to find themselves in the journey of young Esmerelda.
Esmerelda, born into a world of perfect harmony, failed to trust her father’s goodness. Her disobedience banished her from her father’s home, setting her on a journey to find a king who can break the curse – the curse which both burdened her and separated her from her father.
She wandered farther and farther from home encountering colorful characters who pulled her away from her quest.
A year passed, and once again it was Christmastime. Would she at last open her heart to the King?
This production, full of beautiful original music and lively action, gave insight into our own journey and illustrated God’s compassion for those who are hurting and needy. The musical enchanted audiences and drew many into an understanding and acceptance of the Gospel.
The play, written by Jenni Sabinno, was performed by members of Island Christian Church in cooperation with Cornerstone Church of Ames, Iowa.
