Take a moment now to think about the sun in our solar system. The sun is incredibly powerful and from its power and light energy is given to sustain all life on earth. The sun is so incredibly dangerous that if we were to get too close to it we would certainly die. The sun is the best analogy I can think of to understand the Holiness of God. God is powerful and life-giving and dangerous… He is Holy.
Have you ever had a chance to look closely at a stained glass window? Did you notice how each piece of glass is 100% unique from all other pieces? The angles, the contour, the colors, the way the glass is formed with bubbles and curves; those ever-present imperfections? How wonderfully odd it is that such a collection of imperfect things, that are individually good for nothing, can be put together to form such beauty in the right context.
How amazing it is to be sought after and redeemed by our Holy God. Once discarded, we are now grafted into the body of Christ. That body which is like a spectacular stained glass window through which God‘s holy light shines! As you walk around your day today, take notice of how the light shines around you and how the darkness cannot overcome it. Let the light of the gospel of Christ Jesus, your Savior, shine through you- through your imperfections and rough edges, to the people right in front of you.
We are called the body of Christ and we all have our individual place, our calling, our job. However, as a whole body, that is as a whole church in love with Christ and surrendered to His will, the world will see God through us, like light through a stained glass window. Be seen as a blessing to your brothers and sisters in Christ. Stay clean and close to the Son.
If you find these statements difficult to believe, that the God of the Bible can use you to convey his holiness to the world, then I encourage you to watch the short video about the holiness of God.
