Island Christian Church received a recognition award from Leslie Park of Life Services for the Handicapped, Inc. This award was given for the church’s recognition of both accessibility and inclusiveness toward the disabled. Mr. Park, of Dix Hills, NY is the Chairman Emeritus of Life Services for the Handicapped, as well as the retired Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of NYC. He gave this award to Dave Morsch and Roberta Lowenthal of the Friendship Unlimited disability ministry who presented it to Pastor Ayars and the church for their open acceptance and love for these special people within the congregation. The plaque displays the International Symbol of Access, which was created by Rehabilitation International (in 15 countries including Africa). It is registered in Geneva, Switzerland and is the 5th most recognized international symbol. Pastor Ayars will display the award in a prominent place in the church.
