It took a number of weeks before I saw it.
There it was right on the counter by the front office where our secretaries work here at church. That little calendar was open to March 18th. The virus had hit and the office had shut down so it was never changed.
But it is now July and there it sat staring back at me and saying, well are you going to at least look and see what I have to say?
When I finally read it I was amazed. My life verses in black and white, those Philippian verses 4:6-7. Life has drastically changed for all of us. There is no normal or the way things should be. The world is upside down and yet what God has to say to us is as rock-solid as always….complete truth, wrapped in love and delivered to us in the power of His Holy Spirit.
No matter what, He tells us in these verses, regardless of our circumstances we do not have to be worried or anxious. We can follow His very simple instructions and go to Him. We can thank Him for all He has done in and around us. And then…..whatever it is, we can bring it to our Lord. We can not only bring our fears and worries and anger and helplessness to Him. We can lay our very selves at his feet. We do not have to figure things out.
We just need to read what He says and follow his instructions.
Bow before our Lord, talk to him, thank him and then ask Him for his help.
When we do this, then what He says can and will happen. His peace which is beyond our understanding comes in and takes up residence in our hearts and minds.
Wow, oh Lord. Thank you that you know us so well. You wrote to us so long ago knowing what would happen in 2020. Those words that Paul penned two thousand years ago are for us, all of us in 2020, living in this out of control world. We just need to stop and allow you, Lord of our lives to really be Lord of our lives today.
Wherever we are and whatever we are doing, may we stop and take a breath and cry out to you…Lord, I need you…Lord for my offenses, forgive me…..Lord for all you have done in my life and in the lives of those around me, thank you…….Lord, please take all my cares and concerns and worries and fears off my shoulders so that I may know your peace, true peace that comes only from you.
Thank you Lord….thank you, Amen.
Philippians 4:6-7.…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of god, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
