Generation June

Generation JuneDuring this month of June, we will be celebrating the many generations represented in our church and in the community we are trying to reach for Christ. This Sunday we will focus on the very youngest. We will hear from Doreen Jansson, the director of Soundview Pregnancy Services. She will share how we can be part of protecting defenseless children, before birth, and how to minister to their mothers.
We are honored to have Jennifer Shaw with us this Sunday as well. Jennifer and her family have recently adopted a child from China who has medical issues. It is the story of triumph. Very soon, the Shaw family will be adopting two more children from China. In addition, Jennifer represents Compassion International and will provide opportunities for us to sponsor needy children around the world through that ministry.
Pastor Mike will be bringing a timely message, “Precious From the Start.”

Here’s a preview of other “Generation Sundays” this June at ICC–

June 11 | Baccalaureate Sunday | we will be honoring grads and awarding the American Heritage Scholarship. Guest speaker: John Cragg of LI Youth Mentoring.
June 18 | Father’s Day | a day honoring dads, along with a special message from Pastor Mike

June 25 | Youth Week | a week dedicated to the teens of our church- Sunday will set the tone and start us off for a memorable week ahead!

More About Jennifer Shaw

Jennifer Shaw is a Telly Award winning speaker, author, singer, songwriter and five-time Top 40 Billboard artist. Her ministry has been featured by Focus on the Family, Insight for Living, FamilyLife Today, Autism Speaks, Joni and Friends, and many more. Her new book, Life Not Typical: How Special Needs Parenting Changed My Faith and My Song, has brought national attention to the issue of Sensory Processing Disorder.

After being classically trained as an opera singer at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, Jennifer became a professor of music at Cedarville University before she felt led into her role as a contemporary worship leader. Her testimony includes tragedy and triumph, being the parent of a special needs child, and losing her father to Lou Gehrig’s disease. With the release of her fourth album, Someday, her songs offer hope in any circumstance and also reflect her recent experiences on the mission field in Asia, Africa, Central America and the UK.

You will be inspired by her music and her testimony. Don’t miss this opportunity to invite others!
