God Keeps His Promises- Daily Devotional by Pastor Steve Bayne

Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6

I have been finding as the days go on, in light of all that is happening around us that I feel like life is a grind. As my wife has been saying, it feels like Groundhog Day, every day. I know that as a Christian I am supposed to rise above the challenges that surround me. I mean, after all, I made a decision for the Lord a long time ago. I have had my battles, but I work in the ministry and I have a wonderful family. God has been watching over us and providing in all areas. And yet, more and more these days I find myself in a place emotionally where I would rather not be.
So……what is going on? I have the privilege of overseeing the Special Support Ministries here at Island Christian Church and I asked myself, what would I advise someone who was struggling as I have been. The answer was not complicated.
I would say to him or her, listen take a look at your daily walk first of all and see if there is anything you need to straighten out with the Lord. Then, after that, take a good long look at what the truth is.And how do we do that?
We look at what God says. What He says is always going to be in line with the truth as opposed to what you feel, think, or say.

~So back to me. I need to look at those special verses that have jumped out to me in the past or maybe some new verses and claim them as truth, real powerful truth. The Philippians 1 verse above says it all as far as my situation and how I am feeling is concerned. God has promised that He will finish what He started in my life. He has, according to the verse already started working in my life. And regardless of what I say or how I feel( those pesky feelings), He is going to work it all out. And okay, I may have to plod ahead for a while as my feelings may take some time to catch up with the truth, but God’s truth is the truth and his truth will always trump my feelings when the day is over.

So for you and for me, hang in there, say those verses over and over to yourself, share your struggles with those you can trust, and watch the God who loves us so deeply get us through these crazy times.

Blessings and safety to all. I miss you.

For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling that I may walk before God in the light of life. Psalm 56:13
