HOLBROOK, N.Y., Oct. 8, 2015 – Island Christian Church, a Long Island evangelical church with campuses in East Northport, Port Jefferson, and Holbrook, is celebrating the Fifth Anniversary of its Holbrook Campus! Five years ago, the campus was established in order to serve the mid-Suffolk region of Long Island. The church has roots on the Island, having been founded almost 70 years ago in the quaint village of Northport. Today, its main campus is a 40,000 square foot building on 3.5 acres in the heart of East Northport, serving that town, along with Northport, Greenlawn, Commack, Kings Park and other surrounding communities.
As the population growth and development of the Towns of Islip and Brookhaven continue, it was decided to plant a church in that region, where there were not an abundance of Bible-preaching, evangelical churches. The first home for ICC’s eastern campus was a hotel in Holtsville, the Crown Plaza at the time, now a Ramada. The church held its Sunday services at the hotel for over four years, when as an answer to much prayer, the church partnered with another church, called Word of Jesus, in its present location. Word of Jesus continues as a church, with its service time at 11:00 am. ICC meets at 9:00 am. “The relationship with Word of Jesus has been just terrific,” says campus pastor Bob Snider. On Sunday, October 18, ICC will be combining its services with Word of Jesus and having one big “fifth anniversary service” at 10:00 am. Dr. Lester Ayars, pastor emeritus of Island Christian Church will be preaching that morning. Dr. Ayars, recently became emeritus pastor after 47 years as senior pastor of ICC.
Immediately following the service will kick-off a family barbecue with fun games for the children. The entire community is invited to attend both the service and family barbecue. This event is totally free! “What a great way of meeting members of the community, letting them know that we’re here to help and be a blessing to them,” says Pastor Bob.
The community at Island Christian Church is pursuing the kind of church life set forth in Scripture. The foundations of this church are Spirit-led worship, relevant teaching, authentic relationships, unceasing prayer and compassionate provision for the needy. We hope you will join us as we strive to demonstrate a compelling faith that will touch the lives of individuals within our larger communities. Contact Rev.
