I will instruct you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you. Psalm 22:8
Roadblocks are those annoying walls or obstacles that appear in front of us and block our way. Their causes are greatly varied. God may be re-directing us as we are walking down the path of life. Our own behavior may be the issue or someone around us may be responsible. And at times, circumstances and life just happening may be to blame.
All we know is, we were going in one direction, and all of a sudden we find that that way is blocked and we find ourselves stopped. I find that the first thing I need to do is ask the Lord to help me take a good long look at myself and see if there is anything in my life that is getting in the way. If we do this we are admitting to God and ourselves that He knows us better than we know ourselves and can show us what we may need to change to straighten things out.
Beyond that, it can be that God has chosen in His wisdom to change our direction or He may just want us to hit the pause button. Sometimes it is all about timing and again God knows best. As far as other people being a part of a roadblock, that is another area entirely and this is where the counsel of Godly mature Christians comes into play.
Communication and close friendships with other believers is so vital to our walk especially if we find ourselves stuck and unable to navigate through or around an issue.
The bottom line is the Lord always has the answer and He always is the answer.
Whether we are facing a new roadblock or something has been going on for a long time there is no better place ever to go to than to enter the presence of our Lord. We can bow before him and know that He loves us, He cares and He wants what is best for us.
In Psalm 40 David cried out to the Lord. Though he waited, God did lift him out of that bad place and set his feet on solid ground, and got him moving again.
May our Savior do that for you as you look to him, our rock and salvation.
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40
