For the first time in 52 years, this church is selecting a new Pastor. He could be someone already on staff, or someone we know who is not on staff, or someone we do not yet know. We have put the word out, developed a pastoral profile, and read books and articles to help us with this process. Now we are taking this survey to further inform us.
All this is helpful, but the greatest essential is for all of us to pray for this process and seek the Lord for his next Pastor of Island Christian Church. As I shared recently, Samuel the prophet was sent to anoint the next king of Israel and when he saw Jesse’s oldest son Eliab he thought: “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (I Samuel 16:6-7) Let’s work with all the wisdom of God. At the same time let’s pray fervently that God will lead us to his choice. Let’s choose David, not Eliab.
Share your thoughts about what our priorities should be in choosing the next Pastor of Island Christian Church and what his priorities should be as he begins his ministry here.
The survey should take about 10-15 minutes at most. Your candid responses will aid in this selection process. The survey is anonymous.
We will share the results of the survey and bring you up-to-date on where we stand in the process at our next meeting on March 3rd at 7:30.
