Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1
Psalm 118 has that wonderful verse 24 in it that we looked at recently on a Sunday morning.“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” We are informed and directed by our Lord to see something and do something. We are to see that each day is made by God and that we are to appreciate, value, and make the best of each day. There is something else very interesting in this Psalm also (many things actually.) We can if we look, see that the first and the last verse are the same. How important must they be!
The Lord is telling us that it is of paramount importance that we thank Him for His goodness and His endless love for us. The entire Psalm and all the wonderful nuggets in it are wrapped in verses 1 and 29.
I find that I must work daily to be thankful to and for God. It is not easy for me at times but the verses do not say to be thankful when I feel like it only but to work on always being thankful. I have found that pushing through during difficult days and purposing to thank him makes such a difference in my life and also in the lives of those around me.
Thankfulness is contagious and based on God’s love for us according to His word we have the ability to be thankful regardless of whether it is a good day or a not so good day. I find that back to basics is the way to go when I get overwhelmed or even when I am doing fine. God’s love and thankfulness are intertwined and because of his love for us, He gives us the ability to be thankful to and for him as well as all the blessings we have received and will continue to see in the days ahead.
Yes, tough times are always close by but so is the Lord and He is all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful, and on the throne.
Let us give thanks to Him for He is good and His love endures forever.
Blessings to all,
