“Don’t just go to church….be the church.”
EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y., AUG 27, 2015:
On any given Sunday, at either of Island Christian Church’s services, you may be in a row of 15 people, a section of 75 people, or a sanctuary full of 300 people. And that’s great. It’s where we study God’s word, led by our pastor. But chances are, you are not spending much time in fellowship with other believers. Or praying for them by name. Or sharing the highs and lows of everyday life.
That’s why we believe in Small Groups. Our group types are three fold: focus groups, growth groups, and Life Groups. Focus groups are just that–they are relating to a specific life affecting situation, like divorce or the loss of a loved one. A growth group is one that meets for a specific period of time, using a curriculum to further spiritual growth. There is a time for discussion, prayer within the group, and likely some type of personal study to finish at home between sessions. A Life Group is one that meets regularly from September to June, and is most often sermon-based. Within this type of group, there is opportunity for fellowship, worship, discussion, and prayer. It’s tag line is: “Doing life together.” In a Life Group there is the opportunity to know others and to be known by others.
There is a group type for every person, including those who are firmly established in their faith and those who are seeking to know more about God. Groups will be starting up again in early September. For further information, email email@example.com.
The community at Island Christian Church is pursuing the kind of church life set forth in Scripture. The foundations of this church are Spirit-led worship, relevant teaching, authentic relationships, unceasing prayer and compassionate provision for the needy. We invite our neighbors to join us as we strive to demonstrate a compelling faith that will touch the lives of individuals within our larger communities.
