Island Kids 2s & 3s and 4s & 5s:

This month we're teaching the kids that our strength comes from God and that we can trust Him no matter what comes our way. This Sunday, we’ll be in Exodus 13:17-18; 14, where Moses is leading God’s people out of Egypt. God shows them the way with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. But when Pharaoh and his army are chasing after them, the Israelites find themselves trapped at the edge of the water with nowhere to go. Then God makes a way for His people to escape by pushing back the water. As we teach this story and others throughout the month, let’s pray that our little ones will see both the power and love of God and grow to trust Him in every situation — knowing that God’s got it!

Our October memory verse is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5 (NIrV)

Island Kids 1st – 5th Grade:

This month, we want to equip the kids to understand that no matter what they face, God is with them and fights for them. And in the end, everything will be made right, even if it’s not on our timeline. Jesus wins! This week, we’ll explore Daniel 3 and the story of Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. All the officials in the region are ordered to worship a gigantic golden statue, and the penalty for those who refuse is a quick trip into a blazing-hot furnace. When Daniel’s friends defy the king’s order, they’re tossed into the flames. But instead of meeting a quick end, they meet someone unexpected. The kids will learn that just like Daniel’s friends, God is with us, so we can stand for what’s true.

November 2 @ 6:00PM

One of the most important areas of leadership takes place in our homes. It’s also one of the toughest places to lead. In this seminar, "Parenting: It's Not What You Think It Is" by Dr. Paul David Tripp, you will be filled with hope as you see parenting from a whole new perspective—the perspective of our Heavenly Father. For many, this will be a welcome shift in the way we think about parenting. Whether you have kids of any age, are a grandparent, or serve as an Island Kids or Island Youth leader, this seminar is for you. You’ll benefit from this practical, hope-filled teaching and be encouraged in your role of leading the next generation.

Each October, it has been our tradition to take time to thank and pray for our pastors. Facing grief this holiday season? You are not alone. Bittersweet memories, lost traditions, an empty seat at the table: the holidays can stir up sadness for anyone grieving a loss. Join us for Surviving the Holidays, a 2-hour GriefShare seminar with practical help for getting through the season. When everyone around you seems to be celebrating, it can be hard to remember that God sees you and cares for you. Our church wants to welcome you into a caring community. God has a plan for this pain.

Many times in the New Testament, the church is referred to as a body, with each part being a member (Rom. 12:4, Eph. 3:6 and 4:25, Col. 3:15). Church membership affirms your commitment to a local church as part of the body of Christ. As Christians, we are called to live in community, and becoming a member is a great next step!
