ISLAND KIDS

ISLAND KIDS
Sundays | 8:30, 10:00 + 11:30 AM

This Sunday, we wrap up the month by learning about the wise men and their visit to Jesus from Matthew 2:1–12. God placed a special star in the sky to announce Jesus’ birth and guide the wise men to the newborn King. Filled with joy, they bowed down, worshiped Jesus, and presented Him with precious gifts.

Our 2s & 3s and 4s & 5s will explore the question: How do we know God loves us? The answer—God gave us Jesus.

Our 1st–5th graders will discover that we can celebrate Jesus all year long!

Island Kids 2s & 3s and 4s & 5s:
December memory verse: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son.” John 3:16 GNT

Island Kids 1st – 5th Grade:
December memory verse: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:11, NIrV

Thank you, church

This is usually the season when we highlight giving opportunities through our Encounter campaign. This year, we are choosing a different path. Instead of launching new projects in 2026, we are focusing on finishing what we have begun, especially the West Entrance renovation. It is a major undertaking, and we want to complete it with excellence.

Even though we are pausing new initiatives, the Encounter Fund remains open for those who would like to give toward future ministry expansion, discipleship efforts, and creating inviting spaces for people to meet Jesus. Think of this year as laying a foundation for the next season of growth. Click here if you wish to give to the Encounter fund.

This is also the time when we meet important benevolence needs within our church family. We help with urgent bills and provide modest Christmas gifts for families who might otherwise go without. If you feel led to give, your generosity will have a meaningful and immediate impact. Click here if you want to give to the Benevolence Fund.

Women's bible class

January 13,14

Join us as we discover how the last book of the Bible—the culmination of God’s great story—speaks both a steadying word of assurance and a strong call to endure to the church in every age.

Each week, you’ll engage with reflective Scripture passages designed to guide your personal devotional reading. As you meditate on these selected readings, you’ll encounter Revelation within the context of the Bible’s overarching redemptive story. Our study will also be enriched by teaching videos from Jen Wilkin.

Session begins:

  • Tuesday 1/13 9:30 AM
  • Wednesdays 1/14  7:00 PM

Nursery childcare is available for infants through 4 years old.

ALPHA

January 13 @ 6:30 PM

Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What's the purpose of life? What's next? It is a safe place to ask questions about the meaning of life and about God. Whether you, or a friend or family member, are seeking and searching for a safe space to have this conversation about faith, or you are ready to take the next step in growing in your faith, Alpha is for you!

Our Alpha conversations at Island Christian Church are held on Tuesday evenings. We meet over 11 weeks for a brief teaching, followed by discussion. All sessions start with a meal, providing a time to connect and build friendships. There is no charge to attend!

Grief turns your world upside down, making it difficult to know which way is forward and where to turn for help. It’s understandable that your thoughts are scattered, your days are disorienting, and everything around you feels off. It can help to view grief as a journey. But since this is a journey you’re never prepared for, you’ll want to know what to expect along the way—and how to handle the emotional twists and turns and daily challenges. Join us in this 13 session video series where we will help you to understand the common emotions people often feel in grief and share practical tips you can use to begin to find peace as you cherish your loved one's memory.
