Island Kids 2s & 3s and 4s & 5s:
This month we're teaching the kids that our strength comes from God and that we can trust Him no matter what comes our way. This Sunday, we’ll be in Exodus 3:1–4:17; 6:11 and Psalm 118:7 as we explore the story of Moses and the burning bush. God gave Moses miraculous signs to show Moses that He was with him. Moses saw that God is awesome and powerful. As we teach this story and others throughout the month, let’s pray that our little ones will see both the power and love of God and grow to trust Him in every situation — knowing that God’s got it!
Our October memory verse is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5 (NIrV)
Island Kids 1st – 5th Grade:
This month, we want to equip the kids to understand that no matter what they face, God is with them and fights for them. And in the end, everything will be made right, even if it’s not on our timeline. Jesus wins! With this truth in mind, we can always find strength and courage in God! Our theme for the month helps kids discover THE SAFE PLACE: God is stronger than anyone or anything. This week, we visit the edge of the Promised Land in Joshua 6:1-16, 20, where it seems like Joshua and the Israelites have no chance against the strongly walled city of Jericho. But God is so strong, He doesn’t need their weapons — only their obedience. The kids will learn that God is strong, so we can be brave.
Our October memory verse is: “God is our place of safety. He gives us strength. He is always there to help us in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (NIrV)

CLASS + DINNER

Have you ever wondered how God has uniquely equipped you to make a difference in His Church? Scripture teaches that every follower of Jesus has been given spiritual gifts, not simply for themselves, but for the good of others and the building up of the body of Christ.
In this class, we’ll explore what the Bible teaches about spiritual gifts, look at the different gifts described throughout Scripture, and learn practical ways to recognize how the Holy Spirit may have gifted you. We’ll also talk about the relationship between spiritual gifts, natural abilities, personality, and calling, and how the people around us can help confirm the ways God is using us.
Walk away with a clearer understanding of how God has equipped you and how you can use what He has given you to serve others and strengthen His Church. Dinner will be provided.

YOUTH MOVIE NIGHT
October 2 @ 7:00 PM
As a church, we have been studying the Old Testament book of Daniel, and there is so much for us to learn from his story. One of the most exciting things about Daniel is how his story ultimately points us to Jesus—the greater Daniel!
The story of Daniel was recently made into a motion picture. I (Pastor Seth) had the opportunity to see it and was deeply moved by it. I would love for our teens to experience it as well, and I believe it will spark some great conversations as we continue studying this incredible book together!
Drop-off & Pick-up: AMC Stony Brook 17. This is a private screening for our group only. Youth Leaders will chaperone and watch the kids.
