Island Kids 2s & 3s and 4s & 5s:

This Sunday we’ll be in 1 Kings 17:1-16 – Elijah and the Widow. The prophet Elijah shares God’s message that there will be no rain for a long time. God takes care of Elijah by sending him to a stream for water and ravens to bring him food. When the stream dries up, God sends Elijah to a woman who has only enough flour and oil for one last meal. Elijah tells her that God promises her flour and oil will not run out until the rain returns, and it happens just as God said. The kids will learn that we can trust God no matter what happens because God is our all-powerful provider. Just like He took care of Elijah, He will also take care of us. God’s got it! 

Our October memory verse is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5 (NIrV)

Island Kids 1st – 5th Grade:

This month, we want to equip the kids to understand that no matter what they face, God is with them and fights for them. And in the end, everything will be made right, even if it’s not on our timeline. Jesus wins! This week, we’ll explore Mark 4:35–41, when Jesus and His disciples are caught in a wild storm. While His friends panic, Jesus takes a nap! But when they wake Him up, Jesus shows in a single instant that God is never asleep to our needs and is always in control. We’re teaching the kids that God is in control of everything, so we can trust Him no matter what we face!

Our October memory verse is: “God is our place of safety. He gives us strength. He is always there to help us in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (NIrV)

November 2 @ 6:00PM

One of the most important areas of leadership takes place in our homes. It’s also one of the toughest places to lead. In this seminar, "Parenting: It's Not What You Think It Is" by Dr. Paul David Tripp, you will be filled with hope as you see parenting from a whole new perspective—the perspective of our Heavenly Father. For many, this will be a welcome shift in the way we think about parenting. Whether you have kids of any age, are a grandparent, or serve as an Island Kids or Island Youth leader, this seminar is for you. You’ll benefit from this practical, hope-filled teaching and be encouraged in your role of leading the next generation.

Each October, it has been our tradition to take time to thank and pray for our pastors. Join us for Surviving the Holidays, a 2-hour GriefShare seminar with practical help for getting through the season. When everyone around you seems to be celebrating, it can be hard to remember that God sees you and cares for you. Our church wants to welcome you into a caring community. God has a plan for this pain.

Many times in the New Testament, the church is referred to as a body, with each part being a member (Rom. 12:4, Eph. 3:6 and 4:25, Col. 3:15).
